Movies and Madness

Really??? Who has Asperger's? Pedro or Napoleon??
... but you'd still vote for Pedro, right?
Lol..somebody commented that Napoleon looked like he had Asperger's, but really, he did not. He certainly tried to connect to people, he just did it in his geek way.
I happened to think that this was a really stupid movie. So I would do very poorly in the discussion. Hope the food was worth going for! ;-)
The food was so-so..tortillas and so on..but the brownies were good. I pretty much sat glaze-eyed through the discussion. The movie looks like somebody made it while doped on downers..

You guys need to watch "One flew over the cuckoo's nest"!

And the one where Robin Williams woke up all those catatonic people with ldopamine? and the one with Anglenia Jolie..."girl interrupted" I think it was called but I might be mixing that up with another one.

There are so many good mental movies!

ps: What is Aspergers?

Ha ha..I've both read the book 'One flew..' and seen the movie. Both are darned good, but I'd rather not see/read them again. Too sad.
LOVED Girl, interrupted.
As for the Robin Williams movie, I suspect thats based on this real time neurologist who did something similar..must find out the name. Thanks!

Asperger's - I quote.

In Asperger's Disorder, affected individuals are characterized by social isolation and eccentric behavior in childhood. There are impairments in two-sided social interaction and non-verbal communication. Though grammatical, their speech may sound peculiar due to abnormalities of inflection and a repetitive pattern. Clumsiness may be prominent both in their articulation and gross motor behavior. They usually have a circumscribed area of interest which usually leaves no space for more age appropriate, common interests. Some examples are cars, trains, French Literature, door knobs, hinges, cappucino, meteorology, astronomy or history.

This is actually one of my favorite movies ever! I even have several posters and a couple of (gulp) action figures. I didn't even know there were diseases involved.
Ha ha..the pediatrics call room was covered with Napoleon Dynamite posters as well, with quotes such as, 'I caught you a delicious bass.' I was completely befuddled. Still am.

I reiterate, there are NO diseases involved. It just seems that way. :)
Thanks for the education on aspergers :))

The movie with Robin Williams and Robert De Niro is called Awakenings. Have tissues handy! It is definitely one of the best movies ever.

One flew disturbed me too.
Yess..thank you! My favorite guys..this one will be fun to watch. I need to suggest it to the people who are organizing this movie night.
